MANDATE

The Computer Committee has been charged by the Board of Directors with developing and maintaining ASGS' web and internet presence (both the national and section sites), and developing other web or internet based services.

To this end, the Computer Committee maintains http://www.asgs-glass.org for the public's and members' use. Included on the web site (at this time) are: national pages, section pages, committee information, membership information, Fusion information and Symposium information.

The committee's mandate does not extend to individual member's sites. However, it is suggested that at least the member's pages follow ASGS Trademark guidelines which may be found here.

COMPUTER COMMITTEE COMPOSITION

Since the computer committee spans many functions of other standing committees, it is desirable (when possible) that members from Outreach, Membership, Publications, etc be included in the composition of this committee so decisions made by this committee be automatically vetted for appropriateness.


The composition of this committee at the time of writing is:

	The current President of ASGS (ex-officio),

	One person from the Publications Committee,

	One person to handle the ASGS-bbs,

	Two people who can write and edit html code.

Hopefully, this mixture of people will bring to the Committee a variety of viewpoints.

The current mailing list available to the public is ASGS-bbs@e-groups.com The welcome message follows:

This BBS is intended as a technical Q&A forum for people with glass questions. It is moderated, and may also have ASGS signed in who may answer your questions.

The public may also access a listing of glassblowers who offer their services. (ASGS neither accredits nor endorses the glassblowers listed in the members roster.)

Members

Available to ASGS Officers and Committee Members

	The ASGS provides a variety of individual mail lists so that Section Chairs, Committee Chairs, the Board of Directors and other specified groups to maintain communication amongst themselves during the year.

	Board of Directors(BOD) password archival site for BOD.

Available to all ASGS Members

	The Member Roster is a place where interested glassblowers may palce their name, phone number and email address for contact with the public.

	Members Mailing Lists that are available to members are ASGS-Tech Q&A and ASGS- Events.
