The American Scientific Glassblowers Society Northeast Section Meeting

Our fall meeting will be held at the New Street Glass Studio. This is an 8,000 square foot studio that includes glass furnace, cold working, Flameworking and Fusing areas. They teach youth and adult classes and provide studio rentals. They also offer space to artists-in-residence. There is a lot happening and you will not want to miss this one.

10:00am          Registration - $10.00 fee for member, $20.00 for non-members – Light refreshments will be served.

10:30am          Mike Souza – “Go with The Flow and Making Great Seals” Mike will demonstrate a series of conventional seals that can be done in an unconventionally simple manner. https://chemistry.princeton.edu/research-facilities/glassblowing-shop

11:15am          Kelly Damroth – “Pendants & Pyrex: the Road to Scientific Glass” Kelly is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin at Madison Glass Art School and most recently from the Glass Technology Program at Salem Community College. She will discuss her journey and do a demo on making colorful pendants.

Noon               Lunch & Business meeting (Please let me know if you have any special food requirements)

1:45pm            Sally Prasch – “The sound of Silica” Sally will talk about what different glasses sound like and break glass with low frequency. She will also make a glass bell.

2:30pm            TBA

3:15pm            Open torch time; show us what you can do and try different torches

4:00pm            Raffle - Please bring things to be raffled. We will also have a 50/50 raffle.
