The ASGS maintains a number of Google Group email discussion lists as a benefit of membership. If you are currently a member and want to participate, email the List Administrator using the email address you’d like to use letting them know which groups you’d like to join. You’ll receive an invitation to join that is specific for that address and the groups you’ve requested to join. You can unsubscribe from a group at any time by using the link at the bottom of each posted email. It’s important that you sign up with the address you want to use to read posts.
Your access is based on the specific address you use and can’t be transferred. To change addresses you need to cancel one address and reapply with the other. The administrator will send you an invite to join which you have one week to accept before the invite expires. **Please check your spam folder** as invites often get caught there. Corporate, government, or school address often have filters applied by your IT department which prevent you from participating in a group using that address. If you use this type of address and don’t see the invite in your inbox or spam folder, check with your IT department and request that the following addresses be “white-listed” asgs-tech@googlegroups.com, asgs-general-discussion@googlegroups.com, asgs-buy-sell–trade@googlegroups.com Copy and paste the addresses to be certain they are submitted exactly right.

All groups are email based and hosted by Google Groups; you send an email to the group, the moderator reviews it for appropriateness. Tech Q& A
This group is perhaps the single most valuable benefit of an ASGS membership. Technical Questions and Answers posts are restricted to technical questions and answers about scientific glassblowing. It’s an amazing experience to post a question, have it seen by hundreds of professional scientific glassblowers around the world, and get replies from experts within a few hours without a consult fee. The depth and breadth of knowledge held by our membership is truly staggering. Anything that is not a technical question or answer can be posted to ASGS General Discussion. You are strongly encouraged to join both groups. All posts are reviewed by the moderators for appropriateness, must be polite, respectful and a technical question or answer about glass related, no politics.
General Discussion
General Discussion is a place to talk about all things glass or glass related, projects, interests, subjects in the news, etc. If your partner is tried of hearing about interesting glass things, post here and share your excitement and interest shared with other glass folks. All posts are reviewed by the moderators for appropriateness, must be polite, respectful and glass related, no politics.
Buy/Sell/Trade
This group is for casual/occasional member-to-member sales of new or used glass equipment, tools, and supplies in your possession. Sale of products or services you or your company offer are not permitted. Please consider supporting the ASGS by taking purchasing ad space in Fusion or on the website. All posts are reviewed by the moderators for appropriateness, must be polite, respectful and glass related, no politics.
Town Hall Zoom Call and Glass Happy Hour
These are Zoom based and not Google discussion groups. They offer an opportunity for members to meet live via Zoom for conversation. Notices are sent to all members via email and text letting them know when the next event is scheduled.
Town Hall Zoom Call
Each person joining the call gets 5 minutes of time to discuss ASGS related topics, ask questions, make suggestions, or offer a complaint. The call always has board members present who will do their best to answer questions, and address concerns. It is an opportunity to talk directly with the folks running ASGS for you our membership. The Board needs to hear from you to do a good job for you. This is a way to be heard.
Glass Happy Hour
An opportunity to chat in a relaxed atmosphere with fellow glass enthusiasts regardless of how you work glass or what you make with it. Bring the beverage of your choice and share your current project, a great glass story, or future plans. It’s friendly, casual and always a good time.
