Technical References

This is a collection of technical publications and reference documents collected by the ASGS for the use of it’s members. Much of this is old information and may be out of date, not relevant, or currently considered to be dangerous or inaccurate. Consider everything here only as a historical document and not proven accurate, safe, or appropriate.

Methods and Materials Handbook
This collection of technical articles and instructions was assembled in the earliest days of the ASGS for it’s members. It was a pair of 3 ring binders piled full of interesting technical content from a wide range of sources that might have been hard to find otherwise. It was sent to each member when they first joined the society. Sadly this was discontinued some time in the 1980’s because of cost and the need to update aging information. Depending on when you received your copy, it may have had different content then someone else’s edition who joined joined earlier. It is still one of the most valuable collections of technical scientific glass content ever assembled. That said take what you read here with a grain of salt. This version came from Kevin Moeller at Argonne National Labs and appears to have been printed circa 1964.
