We will be holding our fall meeting at Wilt Industries, established in 1950 and a standard in scientific glassblowing facilities worldwide. Come and see how and where they make the Wilt annealing ovens, see friends and enjoy the beautiful Adirondacks https://visitadirondacks.com/ or https://speculatorchamber.com It should be the height of fall foliage so try to make time to see the area.
10:30am Registration – $10.00 fee for members $20.00 for non-members
Coffee, juice and donuts will be served and a catered lunch.
11:00am Tour of Wilt Industries.
11:30am Dan & Rick Wilt – Owners of Wilt Industries will go over the history of the family owned company and how annealing ovens have changed over time with the increase of the use of different types of glasses. Winding elements will also be demonstrated.
Noon Lunch and Business Meeting
1:00pm Katie Jones – Scientific Glassblower for General Electric at the Global Research Center in Niskayuna, NY. Katie will give a lecture and photo presentation about a trip she just returned from in Germany. Katie and other scientific glassblower visited a variety of glassblowing shops throughout Germany.
2:00pm Open Studio. Dan has asked the public to come and watch demonstrations. We will have four stations set up for people to make things that will be auctioned later. Glass and tools will be available to use. Think of something fun to demonstrate.
3:00pm Live Auction. Please bring things that you would like to auction or make things there. You may also auction off glass equipment. One-half of the proceeds of this auction will go to the Lake Pleasant Volunteer Ambulance Service.
