Southeastern Section Meeting

April 4-6, 2019

Asheville, NC



We will be holding our section meeting in beautiful downtown Asheville, NC next spring. Please

join us for an exciting opportunity to tour one of Sibelco’s (formerly Unimin) quartz mining

operations. We will explore a quartz mine, a floatation plant, and one of the laboratories, as

well as hearing from one of their geologists.


   Our group will enjoy a stay at The Hyatt Place-Downtown Asheville, a modern hotel within

walking distance to downtown entertainment venues, shops, and restaurants. The hotel has

large rooms, beautiful views of the valley and mountains, 24/7 dining with free breakfast, and a

new rooftop bar!


    Asheville offers many events and attractions, and is home to The Biltmore Estate, the

Botanical Gardens at Asheville, and The Grove Park Inn, among others. It offers a thriving and

diverse art scene, along with many craft breweries, music events and a myriad of great
